In summary the rules are:

  • The hike is 56 mile circular course, visiting checkpoints in the correct order, within 24 hours starting at 12:00 noon on the Saturday.
  • Open to any person over 18 years on the day of the event, or with approval of parent/guardian and prior arrangement.
  • Strong walking boots are recommended and each hiker must carry maps to cover the route (e.g. OS Explorer Maps 1:25000 268 Wilmslow/Macclesfield, OL1 Dark Peak, OL24 White Peak), compass, whistle, torch (inc. spare batteries & bulb), waterproof jacket & trousers, spare sweater and socks, emergency rations, mug, emergency rations, first aid kit and front and rear reflective patches for night walking.
  • Hikers must walk in groups after dusk.
  • Hikers must only retire at road side checkpoints.
  • Hikers must respect farmers land, property and the country code.
  • Safeguarding: - We are committed to the Scout Association's Policy to safeguard the welfare of all members. The hike organisers will ensure that Bullock Smithy entrants and checkpoint helpers are protected accordingly.
