Bullock Smithy Hike

The Bullock Smithy Hike / Ultra 56 is an annual endurance event organised by the 3rd Hazel Grove Scout Group.
Established as a challenging test of stamina, navigation and determination, the event attracts walkers and ultra-runners looking to take on a demanding long-distance route through the countryside surrounding Hazel Grove.

The event covers a distance of 56 miles on a circular route starting and finishing in Hazel Grove. Participants follow a varied course that combines roads, tracks, trails and rural paths, providing a demanding but rewarding challenge for those taking part.

The event takes place over the first full weekend in September each year. Participants can choose to complete the route as a traditional long-distance hike or tackle it as an ultra-marathon, with runners and walkers sharing the same challenging course.

Organised by volunteers from the 3rd Hazel Grove Scout Group, the Bullock Smithy Hike / Ultra 56 is not only an endurance event but also an important fundraising activity for the Scout Group. The event relies on the support of volunteers, marshals and checkpoint teams to provide assistance to participants throughout the route and help ensure the event runs safely and smoothly.

For many participants, completing the 56-mile course is a significant personal achievement.
